Get ready for Christmas early with a Christmas in July planning party! Your future self will thank you for the work and you will get to enjoy a bit of Christmas magic. This post has been sponsored by Basic Invite. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Summer is here and that means we are that much closer to the holiday season. It can seem far away but it’s just three months until October and that’s about the time of the year that things start to get busy.
My goal is to have everything ready for Christmas that I can by October 1st. When that happens I’m able to fully enjoy the whole season.
If that seems like a lot it’s really not if you start now. You will just have to do a little bit at a time and by October you will be ready to celebrate.
A fun way to kick things off is with a little Christmas in July planning party. You can start your planning while having a bit of Christmas fun.
You could even invite some friends over or set up a Zoom call to plan together. Just send them this post and see if they are in for a bit of Christmas in July fun and planning.
Be sure to read the end of this post, that’s where I share my best tip for your Christmas in July planning! You don’t want to miss it.
How to Have a Christmas in July Planning Party
Gather Your Supplies
You’ll want to gather the things you need to get planning. This can include your planner or calendar to keep track of when you want to get things done before. You may also want to get my Christmas planner so you can stay really organized. It will make it easy because everything is already mapped out for you.
Make Christmas Treats
Every party needs some treats. You can make your favorite Christmas recipes or check out some summer-friendly Christmas treats you can make.
If you are having friends over to join in each person can bring their favorite Christmas recipe. Be sure they bring the recipe to share so everyone can add it to their list to make this Christmas.
Pick a Christmas Movie
Watching a Christmas movie while you plan can make the time go by fast and make it all more enjoyable. There are a lot of great options this time of the year.
You can watch Hallmark’s Christmas in July or find your favorite Christmas movie on Amazon Prime or another streaming service.
Start Planning
Now it’s time to start planning. There are a lot of things you can plan ahead of time, these are some of the things I like to plan during Christmas in July.
- Christmas Cards– Decide what kind you want to send, plan your photo if needed, and start making your list.
- Cooking- Start thinking about meals you plan to have and what dishes you want to serve.
- Christmas Bucket List– This is a great way to decide what things are important to you and your family.
- Gift List- Start thinking about who you need to buy for and some ideas for gifts.
- Decor- If you have different themes each year start planning what you will need.
The Best Early Christmas Planning Tip!
One of the biggest things I like to get done in July is the first thing on the list, my holiday cards! I find it to be one of the more time-consuming tasks and while I love sending cards I don’t love the work of getting them ready. I also hate when I’m sending them out last minute.
I make this whole planning task much easier by using Basic Invite. They have almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. They also will send you custom samples so you can make sure your card is perfect.
And my favorite feature which is a HUGE time saver is their address capturing service. You can share a link on your social media account or email your friends and family requesting their addresses. The addresses are stored in your account and you can select them while ordering and Basic Invite will print the addresses on your envelopes at no additional cost.
Addressing Christmas cards is my least favorite task so this is such a big help. By planning early you can have plenty of time to gather all those addresses.
If you want to really be on the ball you can get 15% off with coupon code 15FF51 through the month of July. If you aren’t quite ready to get your Christmas cards maybe you can get your business Christmas cards or Christmas party invitations.
