Can’t wait for December? Celebrate Christmas in July with these fun and easy ideas. It’s a fun break during the summer months to do something a little bit different.

I remember as a kid the Disney channel would have Christmas in July and play Christmas movies and specials. I decorated my room with my Christmas stuffed animals and other Christmas toys. I even pulled out my chalkboard and made a Christmas tree on it. Clearly I’ve always loved Christmas.

As an adult, I still love the little bit of Christmas magic that celebrating Christmas in July can bring. This year more than ever I feel like we need some of that happiness and magic.

Christmas in July is something you can make very simple or go all out. It depends on what sounds like fun for you and your family. Don’t let it stress you out, just do the amount that will be fun for everyone.

Some people like to celebrate for a week and some just pick one day. If your summer vacation has been canceled maybe a week is what you need. If that sounds like too much a simple movie night may be for you, or maybe somewhere in between. If you are as crazy for Christmas as I am you may want to celebrate all month long!

You can pull from the following ideas and make them your own. Mix and match if you want to celebrate for multiple days. The whole reason to celebrate Christmas in July is to have fun, don’t let it become stressful instead just do what will make you happy.

Pull out some of your favorite Christmas recipes and start baking. You could even have a Christmas cookie decorating contest to see who can be the most creative.

Christmas treats are too delicious to only have once a year so this is a great way to get to enjoy them even more. If you have extras share with some family and friends.

Make Christmas Crafts

The best part about making Christmas crafts in July is you can use the crafts as decorations or gifts in December. Your celebration will actually be helping you have a better actual Christmas.

If you like doing this consider after this coming Christmas stocking up on supplies for your next Christmas in July. You can get some amazing deals. I got some clear ornaments at Michaels for 75% off by doing this.

Have a Christmas in July Party

If you want to go all out you can have a party. You can use traditional Christmas decorations or look for summer-themed Christmas decorations. The options are endless.

Have some fun Christmas treats and turn up the Christmas music. You could even have an ugly t-shirt contest in place of an ugly sweater contest.

Christmas Movie Night

A very simple idea is a Christmas movie night. Pop some popcorn, bake a few simple Christmas funfetti cake mix cookies and snuggle up on the sofa for a fun night.

You could watch one of the many Hallmark Christmas in July movies or one of the Christmas classics. I often watch several Christmas movies in July. It’s a nice break from everyday life.

Create Your Christmas Bucket List

A bit of daydreaming about Christmas is the perfect activity for Christmas in July. You can do this on your own or as a family. Take some time to turn on a bit of Christmas music and sit down and talk about what you want to do for Christmas this year.

Having this list will help you prioritize when planning this holiday season. It can even help you get your Christmas budget going because you will have some idea of what you are wanting to do.

You can use this free printable list of activities to help you get started. In my Christmas planner, you will find a Christmas bucket list you can use as well.

Listen to a Christmas Podcast

If your July is pretty busy why not turn on a Christmas podcast while you are getting things done? There are some really fun ones out there. I love listening to podcasts while I clean the house, it helps it go by so much faster.

This is also perfect for anyone that isn’t quite ready for Christmas music but wants to listen to something Christmas related. Or be like me and do both!

Read a Christmas Book

I don’t make enough time for reading around the holiday season so I rarely get around to reading Christmas books. Christmas in July is a great time to make that time.

You can also read some of the classics with the whole family. If you want a couple of days of Christmas fun why not read a book like Polar Express and then watch the movie version the next day? There are several great options for Christmas books that have been made into movies. You could even choose a few to do this with.

However you choose to celebrate Christmas in July remember the goal is to bring magic to your life, not stress. Be realistic and choose what will be fun for everyone.

Time together doing fun things is what we need more of right now. Many of these ideas can even be used virtually so you can connect with people outside of your household as well. Get creative and have fun!
