Goal setting in the new year can help you have a better year and also can set you up for a great stress-free Christmas! I was given products from Erin Condren that are included in this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you ever thought about how goals setting can help you not only have a more productive year but also end up being an amazing Christmas?

We often stop thinking much about Christmas once January rolls around and we are thinking about our goals for the year. Christmas seems so far away at that point.

But we notice every year Christmas sneaks up on us. Years seem to blow by and we are left regretting not getting to things earlier.

That’s where goal setting can come in. There are many goals we can set that will help us all year long but also will help us have a stress-free Christmas.

Set Financial Goals

Money is one of the biggest stresses for people not only at Christmas time but all year. Setting financial goals can help us save money, pay off debt, and reach other goals as well.

When setting your financial goals look back at what you spent on Christmas. Figure out ways you can save up that amount or a bit more by Christmas.

You can do easy challenges throughout the year to save it or maybe start a side hustle. You can also look at where you spent money in the past year and see if there are places you can easily cut back.

Right now so many are struggling to make ends meet so it’s okay if your goals are very small. Do what you can and adjust later if things get a bit better.

Set Christmas Planning Goals

There are many Christmas related tasks we can get done throughout the year. Setting a goal for how many tasks you want to get done and when you want to get them done can mean more time to enjoy Christmas.

These are some of the tasks you can do ahead of time.

  • Buy Christmas gifts. Buying all year means you can find the best prices without rushing.
  • Get Christmas cards ready, if you do photo cards be sure to get the photo done as early as possible.
  • Bake treats. This one needs to wait until a few months before Christmas so items aren’t in the freezer too long.
  • Make Christmas gifts and crafts. If you plan these in time you can often find supplies on sale after Christmas.
  • Plan your meals. This also means you can buy ingredients ahead of time when on sale. Just make sure the items will still be good by Christmas.

You can likely find many other tasks to do by making a list of all the things you usually do around the holidays. See which ones you can do ahead and make a plan to get them done.

Using a Christmas planner can help with this. The best part is the next year when you are planning you’ll have less to do because you can just transfer when worked the year before.

Set Goals That Make You Happy

Working on your mental and physical health, as well as other things that make you happy, can mean a happier you when the holidays roll around.

Be sure to take time to think about the things that will really improve your life. Don’t just set a goal because it’s the trendy thing, you think you should, or anything like that. They should be things that will actually make a difference for you.

Remember with all of your goals to set goals you can actually meet. And try to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based) goals.

The Best Goal Setting Tools

There are some great tools that make goal setting a lot easier. They guide you with goal setting to help you set yourself up for success.

You can of course set your goals with a simple notebook but having some of these tools can make it easier. Consider what you think will work best for you.

Goal Setting Journal

The goal-setting journals from Erin Condren are a great way to get guided help with setting your goals. There is an A5 journal or one of their PetitePlanners.

Both options are undated and contain goal setting tips and advice, 6 big goal action plan spreads, goal tracking spreads, to-do lists for action steps, and space for reflection and journaling.

These journals help take the guesswork out of goal setting. They are also high-quality products that you will enjoy using.

Vision Journal

A vision journal is a great way to do more long term goal setting. With the Erin Condren vision journal, you will be guided through creating your vision for your life and making that vision come true.

There is even space to create vision boards right in the journal so you can keep everything together and help you create your vision for a wonderful life.

Christmas Planner

When it comes to planning with the goal of a stress-free Christmas in mind it is helpful to have a Christmas planner. This will make sure you know what your goals should be and help keep you organized.

There are several Christmas planners out there but many are pricey and don’t work year after year. That’s why I created a Christmas planner that you buy once and use year after year.

You can also customize it to fit your needs so you don’t have a bunch of extra pages you’ll never use. It’s available all year so you can get your copy now to start using it.

Goal Setting Accessories

A simple pen works to use the journals and planners shared here but if you want to make it a bit more fun and personalized you can also get some useful accessories.

These are some of the items I like to have on hand while working on my goals.

  • Colorful Pens
  • Decorative Stickers
  • Magazines (for a vision board)
  • Portable Printer (for a vision board)

Once you have your supplies be sure to keep them in a place that is easy to access and to make time to actually use them. They won’t help you if you aren’t using them.
