Not ready to take down your Christmas tree? Turn it into a Valentine’s Day tree! It’s a fun and festive way to get more use out of your Christmas tree.

When I was a kid my grandparents had a huge Christmas tree. It took forever to put up and take down so one year they left it up most of the year and my grandma redecorated it several times for different holidays.

It was a lot of fun to see what new things she had done with it each time I went over there. I’m pretty sure I got my love of going all out with decorating for the holidays from her.

This year I wasn’t ready to put up my Christmas trees so I turned two of them into Valentine’s Day trees. Just like Christmas tree decorations, you can go very simple or all out.

This year since it’s my first year doing this I went really simple. I will gradually buy more items to add to the trees as I find things I like.

For my main Christmas tree that is in our living room, I left my red mercury glass ornaments on the tree, added some silver heart ornaments, and it’s a color-changing tree so I put it on red and white. The tree skirt I use is white so I just left that on it as well.

The other Valentine’s Day tree is a flocked tree in my kitchen. It has white lights so I added some red heart LED lights and a few conversation heart ornaments.

I can’t wait to add more to the trees. When I was taking down my Christmas decorations this year it was far less sad because I knew I’d be decorating for Valentine’s Day and I was excited to see all of the new decorations.

I had no idea when I decided to have Valentine’s Day trees that it would become a trend this year. I’ve seen several other fun examples and wanted to share those ideas with you as well so you can get some inspiration for your own Valentine’s Day tree.

Pink Valentine's Day Tree

While I just used my traditional green Christmas trees Cutefetti went all out with a pink tree. It's so much fun. I love all the food ornaments.

Valentine's Day Tree Idea

I love this farmhouse Valentine's Day tree. It's simple and elegant. I also like that most of the ornaments are Christmas ornaments that are simple to find in Valentine's Day colors.

Transforming your Christmas tree...into a Valentines tree

A white Christmas tree is just asking to be transformed to a Valentine's Day tree and this one is such fun. I love the non-traditional items she used as ornaments.

Easy Diy Valentine's Tree

I love this black and white Valentine's Day tree with just touches of red. It would be great for someone not wanting to go all out with pinks and reds.

Valentine’s Day Tree Supplies

I recommend using a Christmas tree you already have but if you need one or want something different checkout Balsam Hill. They always have some great deals on trees after the holidays.

I actually dreamed last night that your dad took down our Christmas tree without consulting me and I was really upset – ha! I’ve redecorated for Mardi Gras in the past but not Valentine’s Day. I think I just might do so this year. And then Mardi Gras is February 25th so I can do that, too!

ha! I think that dream tells you that you have to decorate it for Valentine’s Day and leave it up!
