Want to save money? Find out what you should buy in July to save money. This is also a great way to reduce holiday stress and save money for Christmas.

It seems like it was just Christmas but July 25th will be just 5 months until Christmas. It’s hard to believe it will be that soon.

It’s a good reminder that if you want to have a stress-free Christmas you should start planning. Make sure you have your Christmas budget finished and your Christmas planner set up and ready to go.

You also should consider buying things that are cheaper now than during the holiday season. It’s a great way to save money and get some of your shopping out of the way before things get really busy around the holidays.

Stores are already gearing up for back to school and even somewhat for fall. That means you can find deals on things more common for the summer.

Just be sure that you are buying things you actually need and not just because “it’s a good deal.” It’s not a good deal if you won’t use it or don’t need it.

WHAT TO BUY IN JULY

BBQ Supplies

Have someone on your list that loves to grill? Buy some supplies now when they go on sale to use as gifts for that person. You can even make a cute gift basket out of grilling tools, seasonings, and other fun grilling accessories.

School Supplies

Art supplies can make great stocking stuffers and with back to school supplies already hitting the shelf you can often find some really good deals. Small electronics are also often on sale for back to school.

Sunscreen

Going on vacation around the holidays to somewhere sunny or maybe going skiing? Stock up on sunscreen when it’s on sale and easy to find.

Frozen Meat

Stock up on some hot dogs and hamburgers for quick meals during busy times. They can be cooked inside or grilled if you have a warm day. Don’t forget the BBQ sauce.

Ice Cream & Frozen Treats

These things won’t really be good around the holidays but if you want to have a Christmas in July party stock up. A sundae bar is a fun thing to do for your Christmas in July party and you can get the ingredients really cheap this month because it’s getting to the end of the season and it’s National Ice Cream Month.

Beach Supplies

Going on a beach trip around the holidays? Not only do you need sunscreen but you also need swimsuits, beach balls, beach towels, and other fun beach supplies. As stores are making room for fall these things will be on clearance and you can get some great deals.

Don’t Forget Thrift Stores

People are still doing some spring cleaning so it’s a good time to go to the thrift store to look for things you can use for gifts and Christmas decor. You may find some hidden treasures!

Want to save even more money? Use cash back apps to get cash or gift cards from the purchases you are already making. It’s a great way to get some extra money for the holidays.

My favorite apps are the Ibotta app, which is an easy to use app that will give you cash back on some of the items you are buying. You simply scan receipts that contain products they currently have offers for and you can get cash back.

My other favorite is Fetch Rewards. It works like Ibotta but you don’t have to find the offers and you get some points for every receipt, even if there are no special offers. I love to redeem my points for Amazon gift cards to use at Christmas time. Enter my referral code, TN8EW, during signup and you’ll get 2,000 Fetch Points ($2.00 in points!) when you complete one receipt.

And for things you order online use Rakuten (formerly Ebates). All you have to do is install the app and it will tell you when you can earn cash back. You can also get $10 just for signing up and making a qualified purchase.

And be sure to sign up for my emails below so you will get alerted when I have more “what to buy” posts. I’m going to do one every month and you don’t want to miss them.
