Is a Balsam Hill Christmas tree worth it? Learn all you need to know about the Christmas trees to help you decide if you want to buy one. The review is unpaid and completely honest.
Note: The photos are after only fluffing it part of the way. I fluff more as I decorate and will share the decorated photos soon.
While I’m honest even if a product is gifted or a post is sponsored, this post is neither. I bought this Balsam Hill Christmas tree on my own after researching Christmas trees and looking for the best option. I am using my affiliate link in this post so I earn a small commission if you use my link but this doesn’t influence my thoughts at all.
This is my second Balsam Hill Christmas tree. The last one I had was over a decade ago. I loved it but after moving into a new house I could fit a larger tree and given my love of Hallmark Christmas ornaments a bigger tree is always needed. My Balsam Hill tree was still in perfect shape and I was able to pass it on to another family.
When getting a new tree we ended up going with one we could get locally as it was a last-minute choice and we went cheaper with a Home Depot Christmas tree. It served us well and we enjoyed it but last year we decided it was time for a new one.
One of the branches was broken, the lights were fading, and it wasn’t looking its best. I keep the tree up August through February so it’s understandable with that much use that a cheaper tree just wasn’t holding up.
This year we decided to go back to Balsam Hill and I want to share why I chose the tree I did and what I think about it after putting it up and testing it out.
Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Review
When looking for a Christmas tree I checked out multiple sites and price ranges. While researching Christmas trees there were several things I was looking for:
- Realistic Branches
- LED Color Changing Lights
- 7.5 feet but Somewhat Narrow
- Not Flocked
Those were my main wants for the tree. I found a few that fit most of my wants but only Balsam Hill fit all of them. The tree I went with is the Balsam Hill Fraser Fir Tree. I got the 7.5 foot in narrow width and with Twinkly Light Show LED lights.
My Christmas tree arrived last week and I put it up right away so I can share my thoughts on the tree after having it up, fluffing it, and enjoying it as a Halloween tree currently.
Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Pros
I’m in love with this tree and feel like it has many pros that make it worth the higher price tag, especially since they frequently offer sales. Here are my top pros for my Balsam Hill tree:
- It has a high percentage of realistic branches, which they call the True Needle. They shed less and look more like real needles.
- It uses “Easy Plug” meaning you just line up the tree and put it together and it will all connect with one plug.
- Set up in general is very easy. You can see clips of me setting it up on Instagram.
- They offer many heights, three widths, and multiple light options for this and most of their trees.
- The Twinkly Light Show lights are app-controlled lights that you can make into any color combination and many types of light shows. I love white lights but my husband loves colored so we can switch back and forth. I also can choose different colors for when I decorate it for Halloween or decorate it for Valentine’s Day.
- It comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
- It comes with a storage bag.
- The tree stand is much higher quality than my cheaper trees. As a cat owner, I like how stable it makes my tree.
I will likely have even more pros as I use the tree and will be sure to update this post after I use the tree this whole season.

Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Cons
I have very few cons. It’s not worth a full list. It’s only the price and the number of lights on the Twinkly Light Show trees.
In my opinion, the tree is worth the price but it’s important to note that it is on the pricey side. I paid $1,114.54 which includes tax. The shipping was free and the tree was on sale.
As far as the lights go there are over 500 lights on my 7.5-foot tree and they are bright (you can control the brightness, which is awesome!) but I love a VERY well-lit tree. It’s not enough to make me not love the tree and my husband thinks it’s plenty and I’m sure most people would. Just if I could make it even better it would have more lights.
Balsam Hill Christmas Tree Overall Thoughts
My overall feelings on the tree are that I love it. It’s a beautiful tree, the quality is amazing, and I know it will serve me very well. I feel that it is worth the cost if you have room in your budget.
Because of the quality of the tree and how long I suspect it will last, I believe I will save money in the long run as I won’t have to replace it for many years.
Balsam Hill has many styles and sizes to choose from so I highly recommend checking out the trees and considering getting one for your home this year.
Their biggest sales tend to be Christmas in July and after Christmas so if you want to save money try shopping during one of those times. And be sure to follow me on Instagram to see lots of photos and videos of the Christmas tree now through Valentine’s Day.
