Cereal lovers will tell you, one of the best parts of eating cereal is drinking the leftover cereal milk. And now you can have that great flavor with cereal milk whipped cream!
This cereal milk whipped cream is made with Cocoa Krispies so it has a light chocolatey flavor and is perfect with a cup of hot chocolate or on top of your favorite holiday pie.
Whipped cream is a favorite around here. Sometimes I’ll whip up some lightly sweetened whipped cream for our usual cups of coffee or even to eat a bit on its own.
We are also huge fans of cereal so cereal milk whipped cream seemed like the perfect addition to our whipped cream making.
The only thing about this whipped cream that is difficult is waiting for the cream to soak up all the cereal flavor. You need at least 2 hours but overnight is even better.
How to Make Cocoa Krispies Cereal Milk Whipped Cream
What You Need:
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Cocoa Krispies (or another cereal of your choice)
- Powdered Sugar
Making the Cereal Milk
In an airtight container, pour in a cup of cereal and pour 2 cups of heavy whipping cream over it. Stir and make sure all of the cereal is covered.
You want to let your cereal soak in the cream for at least 2 hours. Overnight will create an even better flavor if you have the time to wait. Also, be sure to stir it occasionally.
Making the Whipped Cream
Once your cereal has soaked in the cream you’ll want to pour it through a fine-mesh sieve over a bowl. Be sure to press the cereal down with a spatula to get as much of the liquid as possible.
After that, the process is the same as making traditional whipped cream. For best results, you’ll want to use a chilled bowl and whisk and simply whisk the cereal whipping cream at medium-high speed, with a stand mixer or electric mixer, until soft peaks form, then you will slowly add your powdered sugar and whisk on high until you get stiff peaks.
That’s all you need to do but if you want even more cereal flavor you can crush more cereal in a food processor and fold it into the whipped cream.
How to Use Cereal Milk Whipped Cream
My favorite way to use the Cocoa Krispies cereal milk whipped cream is on top of hot chocolate. It’s a fun addition and is the perfect holiday drink.
You can also add it to the top of a latte, your favorite holiday pie, cupcakes, or any dessert you’d usually serve with whipped cream.
How to Store Cereal Milk Whipped Cream
It’s best to make whipped cream right before you plan to use it as it can fall flat and separate as it sits. If you do have leftovers or need to make it ahead be sure to store the whipped cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Try not to store it for more than 24 hours. You can freeze whipped cream if you aren’t going to use it right away. It’s a great option for use with your hot chocolate and other hot drinks.
